Global warming is here to stay. But your small donation can save a snowman’s life.
Each time the temperature rises, a snowman begins melting. It’s a catastrophe of unfathomable proportions, but together, we can make a difference. Since 1988, The American Red Cross has been providing essential services to assist snowmen hard hit by global warming:
- Emergency relief – When a devastating February 2004 warm front swept through the upper Midwest, millions of snowmen were at risk. We moved quickly: trucking tons of dry ice into the affected communities, and leasing a fleet of refrigerated trucks to provide temporary shelter for thousands of snowperson families.
- Reconstructive surgery – Our experienced surgeons can transform a snowman who’s been reduced to a dirty puddle of water back into a functional member of the community. Our team provides midsection reconstruction, head rounding and reshaping, and emergency button-nose/eyes of coal reattachment surgeries, procedures that give snowmen a second chance.
- Mental health care – For a snowman, dealing with global warming means more than simply worrying about his face sliding off. He must also cope with emotional issues that include post-traumatic stress disorder, discrimination, and loss of financial freedom. Our mental health staff offers snowman support groups, individual psychotherapy, and where needed, in-patient care at a fully refrigerated mental health facility.
- Relocation services – In partnership with the Canadian Red Cross, we’re relocating thousands of snowmen to Calgary and Winnipeg, cities expected to remain frozen solid well into the next century. We also help these snowmen find employment at local ice-skating rinks and Popsicle factories.
With the average temperature up nearly four degrees since 1990, our work is more crucial than ever. Make a tax-deductible online donation today at www.snowmanrelief.org so we can continue helping snowmen in need. Without your support, they’ll simply melt away.
