Community connections

The Community Benefits Office at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center provides medical expertise, staff, and funding for seven Boston-area community health centers, and sponsors a wide range of programs designed to improve health and reduce health disparities in some of the city’s poorest neighborhoods.

I worked with BIDMC to develop an annual report that highlights the important community work that the medical center does every day – from sponsoring a farmers market in Dorchester, to launching a walking program for middle schoolers, to providing emotional support for counselors and victim advocates. I interviewed more than 20 people for the piece, as well as managing the project and ensuring constant communication between different BIDMC departments and stakeholders.
